What are the advantages of home care?

Seniors who remain in their own home with a nurturing, supportive environment will continue to be more socially engaged, physically active and achieve a greater state of wellbeing. Our specialized care encircles your loved one with encouragement and security, offering the opportunity to age with dignity in a familiar environment. Home care helps reduce stress by relieving the family of many duties and responsibilities associated with being a full time caregiver. We can also be hired to supplement care at assisted living facilities to provide tuck-in services, companionship, and more.

Who can receive in-home care?

In addition to the elderly, many people are injured, ill, or disabled at some point and may require help with day-to-day activities. At Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc., we work to help anyone age 18 or older to recuperate in the comfort of home. Our services are arranged to fit your needs, and because you decide how often and when you need us, most people find us affordable and convenient. Family, friends or charitable organizations often pool funds to make the services available to persons in need. Long-term care insurance, workers compensation and liability insurance carriers are also involved in funding our clients’ services, when they qualify, regardless of age.

How do I know if a family member needs personal care or companion care?

As a family-owned and run company, we understand the struggles families face when deciding if a loved one needs enhanced assistance. Perhaps your mother has become forgetful or seems distant and depressed due to a lack of companionship. Maybe your father has been ill or had surgery and is too independent to follow his recuperative exercise routine. For any number of reasons, from frailty to the onset of Alzheimer’s or dementia, there are times when a family member needs more assistance than it is possible or practical for other relatives to provide.

You may reject the idea of a nursing home or assisted living facility as being too permanent or premature, yet not have the ability to provide ongoing care for a parent who wants to stay in their home—or even, live at yours. Making the choice to engage compassionate professionals is not a compromise. It’s an affirmative choice that will enhance your loved one’s quality of life and encourage the most beneficial possible outcome.

Who pays the caregiver?

We take care of all billing, payroll, employee/employer taxes, workers compensation and liability insurance, bonding and administrative/scheduling responsibilities for you. You do not have to worry about paying extra taxes, or reporting employment information to local, state and federal agencies. Every caregiver is an employee of Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc. We work hard to minimize your personal and family risks when you are at a time of the greatest need and risk.

Are your home care services covered through Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance?

Medicare and Medicaid do not cover our services, as we are private pay only. If you are seeking services that can be funded by Medicare or Medicaid, we suggest you refer to Medicare.gov and Medicaid.gov for more information. Some long-term care insurance policies will pay for our services. If you have a long-term care policy, we assist you with the proper documentation to submit claims for your reimbursement; however, we require payment at the time services are invoiced.

Is your agency licensed?

Yes, Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc., is a licensed home care provider regulated by the Georgia Department of Community Health.

All employees are bonded, insured and covered by workers compensation through Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc. AHCP also has professional liability coverage.

Are your caregivers insured and bonded?

Yes, all employees are bonded, insured and covered by workers compensation through Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc. AHCP also has professional liability coverage.

How are your caregivers selected?

We follow a rigorous screening and selection process. Caregivers employed at Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc., go through background checks, looking into felony and misdemeanor conviction history, address verification over the last 10 years, driving records, credit check, personal reference checks and previous employment verification. Only caregivers who pass our in-depth screening process, orientation and training are employed by Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc.

What are your caregivers’ qualifications?

Our caregivers are reliable professionals who have been thoroughly screened, and are bonded and insured. Our caregivers come from all walks of life. Often they live right in your community and are active members of local organizations and community groups. We seek to employ people who truly enjoy others. And, very often they or someone close to them has been through a situation similar to the one you may be facing; many are looking to help others in the same way they were helped.

What happens once I decide to work with your services?

We will visit your home at no cost to you and work with you to determine the types of services that will best fit your situation. We want to get to know you, your needs and habits, which our care manager will consider while developing a care plan.

When will I meet my caregiver?

Many organizations simply assign you the next caregiver, often without a prior introduction. You play an important role in caregiver selection. We don’t even consider which caregivers might be most appropriate for you until after we complete an in-home consultation. Once we understand your needs and your environment, we decide which caregivers will best fit your situation.

Our management team will then introduce you to your caregiver on their first visit. The care manager will also continue to monitor the quality of our service to you. We also maintain detailed care notes on you to ensure proper tracking and oversight. Our goal is to foster a caring, stable relationship between you and our staff that assist you.

Can my family member become comfortable with a single caregiver, or should they expect frequent change and disruption?

We believe that a consistent and reassuring environment is important for anyone who is temporarily or permanently losing full independence. However, we have discovered that using multiple well-trained and educated caregivers provides a variety of experiences that is beneficial for our clients. Like having more than one friend drop by to visit, having multiple caregivers provides the broadest range of insights regarding the health and well-being of our clients. To the extent possible, we strive for a regular group of caregivers to rotate shifts, ensuring your loved one won’t be disappointed by unexpected change.

If clients express a preference for a specific caregiver, we will attempt to schedule that person as frequently as possible.

What will a personal care nursing assistant do for me?

Among the many services a nursing assistant performs, tasks include assisting with grooming and hygiene, monitoring vital signs and medication, assisting with proper body movement and daily exercise, escorting to appointments, providing security to assure safety and well being, seeking the right help in emergencies, preparing meals, and performing the day-to-day cleaning and laundry. The care plan developed by the Registered Nurse will address the specific needs of your family member.

Can a caregiver assist with housekeeping and other non-personal services?

Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc., offers many requested services that include, but are not limited to, light housekeeping. Tell us what your loved one needs and we can either provide that service or, if it is beyond our scope, refer you to a reputable company that can assist.

What happens if the family or our loved one does not like or trust the caregiver?

Although we hire only caregivers with the highest ethical and moral standards, all of our caregivers are fully bonded to ensure a client’s and family’s material possessions are safe. Comfort and peace of mind about the quality of care and contentment of the client are also paramount. If a client or family is not satisfied with our choice of caregiver, we will replace that person, unequivocally, in the event that coaching is unsuccesful in solving the problem.

Will I be able to reach a caregiver after hours? If so, how can I contact someone after hours?

We maintain on-call access to staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If a caregiver fails to show due to illness or an emergency, our on-call staff will assist you in providing care coverage.

Who do we call with questions about an invoice, schedule changes or other issues we want to discuss?

Feel free to call us at any time if you have an urgent question or are not available to speak with us during regular office hours.

We have staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our billing and other administrative offices are open during regular office hours 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. To obtain the fastest and most thorough response on all other questions, we recommend you call during that time, when we can access records and other information that helps us better respond to your questions. You can also contact us via our contact form.

How quickly can I arrange for service?

Immediately. From the moment of intake, care begins.

Do you perform a home safety check to ensure there are no obstacles that might injure the client?

Yes, a home check to ensure safety is included in the care plan.

Do you provide home health care medical products?

We recommend that families work with the medical supply company closest to their home. Should this not be available, there are a number of medical supply stores and pharmacies that we recommend. Rental or purchase is based on individual preference and may be reimbursable through Medicare.

Does your service include being available for distant family members?

Absolutely. Some of our clients have family members living all over the world. We are available by phone 24 hours a day as well as by email: info@atlantahomecarepartners.com.

Do you require a commitment to a minimum of hours and days a week in order to provide care?

Atlanta Home Care Partners, Inc., can provide caregivers by the hour with a 4-hour minimum per visit. We recommend a minimum of 20 hours per week to ensure continuity of quality care.

How do I reschedule, suspend or cancel service?

In order to change an upcoming shift without being charged, we ask for a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. We understand emergencies can happen that make prior notice difficult or impossible, in which case we will work with you to determine a fair plan of action on behalf of our caregiver(s) and you.
